Here's the scary part. I remember him as a player. I was just a kid, probably about 12, but still. He played first base for the Padres. Not much of an average but decent power.

Those middling players seem to make the best managers, don't they? Joe Torre and Lou Piniella were very good players but I'm having a hard time thinking of many others.

>I am officially a Phillies fan for the series. Oh, and just an FYI. They had a tribute to Cito before the game yesterday evening. Last home game of the season and last home game he'll ever manage before retiring. I just wanted to let you know that among the people there to honour him, was Joe Carter. Bwwaaaaahahahaaaaa! You may now spit.

>>With everything clinched, Charlie M. can get his starters some rest and get them set. I hope he goes Doc/Hamels/Oswalt, to alternate righty-lefty-righty.
>>
>>While Blanton pitched great in the last 2 months, I'll be surprised if they don't go back to Doc in Game 4 (if one is needed)
>>
>>Very favorable schedule for Phlly - sure pays to clinch best league record.
