I scaled my personal office use back to Office97 - have licenses for XP
and ribbonned ones [XP outlook is needed for some locations]
and use them if a file is in the newer formats, but for personal use
Office 97 is good enough - loads fast [try out Excel IV or Winword2
for really mindblowing minimal startup time...]
starts from USB after a few warning clicks without official install.
It has also one of those licenses where I can legally install on as many
of *my* machines as I want to without any calling back and so on -
MS trusts me that only * I* will use *my* copy and this is the way I
think it should be handled - especially as the versions for the phone
have most of the needed functionality and sell for 8 to 20 bucks....
my grouch post for the day ;-)
