>Actually, there are some "little" things I like very much. The calendar and notepad are like Goldilocks and the third bowl of soup..."just right".

Third bowl of soup? I thought it was beds she tried out.

You probably read to Katy already but just wait until she knows the stories and has her favorites. Those are among my best memories of fatherhood. One of the ones they liked best was a story called "The Paper Bag Princess." It's about an enterprising girl who outwits a dragon. She tricks him into running around so much he doesn't have enough breath to scorch her with fire. "He didn't have enough fire left to cook a meatball." They beamed in delight every time we hit that line. Their other favorite line in that book was said by the paper bag princess to her rich but arrogant boyfriend. "Ronald, you are a bum."

Part of the fun of reading to them was trying to slip a changed word past them. I could never do it, even the most trivial word. They commit these stories to memory and if you change even one word you're busted.
