You said you bought your last laptop in 2005? So are you thinking this one needs to last 5-6 years too? If so, then you should definately look at 64 bit. More and more software is moving to 64 bits. For example:

- Most PCs now come standard with 64 bit Windows
- Office now available in 32 and 64 bit

IMO, it won't be long and we'll see 64-bit only of many applications

If this is a business expense, you can write it off over three years.
