>I don't know where you get the idea Cutler is a dummy. He went to Vanderbilt and speaks intelligently when he wants to.
>
>Mike, the scouting report on Cutler, ever since he was drafted, is that he has a howitzer for an arm and bag of hammers for a brain.
>
>Shanahan said many times that Cutler's biggest trouble was his inability to read defensive schemes in general and blitzes in particular.
>
>Many in Denver thought Cutler's career would either end from throwing too many interceptions, or from getting whacked because he didn't read blitzes and didn't sense the pressure around him.
>
>The consensus amonst NFL analysts after last night's game was that the Giants easily sacked Cutler because he takes too long to get rid of the ball and waits too long to see if he can make a big play.
>
>I think this Mike Martz thing has been overplayed. Martz was successful in St Louis because Kurt Warner was a SMART quarterback. I'm not saying Martz doesn't have talent as an O-coordinator - but I'm far from convinced that the Martz-Cutler marriage in Chicago will be successful. I guess we'll wait and see.

True. I could be wrong. You are not the first to say Cutler hangs onto the ball too long. OTOH the line really does suck. You don't get sacked 9 times in a half without some "help" from the line. Cutler is pretty mobile and evades some sacks by running for his life.

We don't agree about him being dumb.

I have always liked your line about "dumber than a bag of hammers" and have stolen it once or twice.
