I have always respected McCain as a war hero. The torture he withstood for 5 years is almost beyond imagining. They broke about every bone in his body and then hung him up by his broken arms to beat him some more. To this day he can't lift his arms above his shoulders. The Viet Cong were going to let him go as a publicity stunt and he refused to be set free unless they freed his men, too. I also respected him as a Presidential candidate in 2008. Since then he seems to have changed. The far right element of his party has him on the run, as it does most of the Republican party. Strange days when John McCain is considered too liberal.
