>I have been spending time dabbling with Python. Getting to love it.

Yupp. Has a verrry nice balance.

>Problem is, too many GUI toolkits, IDEs out there. Till I stumbled into PyCon videos in YouTube featuring Dabo. Although I know it has been existing for a while, the current version seems to very very promising. My hats off to Ed Leafe and Paul McNett for their perseverance. Seems to me (unless you guys have other leads) this is the road I will be taking...

The thing making me nervous about Dabo is the concentration on wx desktop apps -
they won't go away, but not having

a) support for other GUI frontends (mostly for pad/phone devices)
b) support for simple ajax/webform internet apps to convert to
c) hooks/path into any of the python web kits

is similar to vfp 's shrinking ecologic niche - not certain I want to stay there. The dabo webapp where the GUI is dynamically downloaded to the client and Biz logic stays on the server is perhaps not sandboxed enough for many clients. Linux as OS is a bonus, but clients wanting a special app are more likely to have a Win virt machine on their system nowadays - while those tiny clients are gaining track. And I am not a total believer in Silverlight, much less in Winmobile 7 - a simple scripted Ajax frontend as alternative GUI might be as good as a start pint as a change path into any of the bigger web kits.
Dotnet fwks like Ideablade and Strataframe at least give you a path to a webform if not silverlight app if demands arise, while servoy seems to have most deploying options, but is eliminated by runtime cost from my considerations if I understand their licensing scheme correctly.

The code I read as one of my forays into python öooks well written, but the GUI will probably have to be partially refactored to be used by other front ends - but if one decides on a fwk one has to immerse oneself into it and adapt it to personal usage anyhow IMHO.
