I was surpriced to see that COUNT FOR respects the filter settings of a DBF. Is this always the case or is there some way to use COUNT FOR on an entire DBF without removing the filter?

We have a DBF with Companies. We want to show the user a list of companies connected to him in a specific city (filter on two fields), and at the same show the entire number of companies in this city (COUNT FOR on one field).
