Halo 2 and 3 universally got pretty below average reviews (even though I loved both of them). I have heard some reviewers call Reach the best video game they've ever played.

I just picked up Guitar Hero a few weeks ago. I had a lot of fun with that. The Aerosmith edition is in GameStop for 7 bucks, so I'll probably pick that up soon.

I don't know if puzzle games are your thing, but I bought Puzzle Quest 2 from XBox Live a few weeks ago (~ 15 bucks) and have really enjoyed it. It's a lot longer game that I thought it would be for the price.
