That still doesn't prove anything. He is not obligated to deny it. That wouldn't prove anything, either. Sometimes it's the guilty who deny most vigorously -- see Rafael Palmiero, Roger Clemens, Lance Armstrong, and any number of other pro athletes.

Mike, I agree, others have pounded their fist and claimed innocence, and later proved to be liars. That still doesn't mean a "no comment" is a sign of innocence.

As of now, here are the facts:

1) NFL security is looking into this, and the league office may be examining it very soon. The rumor is that, if these allegations are true, Goodell won't hesitate to suspend Favre under the Personal Conduct Policy. It is not out of the question that Favre could end the regular season on the suspended list.

2) A 2nd person (the massage therapist) has come forward with some kind of allegations as well.

3) Favre today issued a general apology to his teammates for being a distraction. That's not something a person would normally do, if innocent.

There's little question this was staged to coincide with the Vikings visiting the Jets. But ultimately, it's a question of whether Favre did this.

I'll be extremely disappointed in Favre, if this is true. Deanna (who is practically the "First Lady" of the NFL) has stood by him all the way (including his alcoholism and pain killer addiction).
