Will someone please tell me what this is about? ;-)

I shouldn't make age jokes because I (we) will be there in the blink of an eye. In a way I am fortunate because my parents are both alive and still have their marbles. But their physical ailments are like reading a medical dictionary. My dad says old age isn't for sissies, and he doesn't say sissies. Another funny thing he said is that he was given a list of forbidden foods due to his diabetes. He said this looks like my shopping list. But he abides by it. He doesn't want to go any more than most of us do.

One day a few months ago when I called him to check in he said when he woke up that morning he momentarily thought he was still in his 20s and had just gotten out of the Army. That would have been about 1954. He was stationed in England and Germany and his regiment was scheduled to be deployed to Korea when the war ended.

You know I am not the preachy type but I nevertheless urge everyone here who has living parents to call them up for no other reason than to say you love them and are grateful for what they have done for you. You'll feel better and so will they.
