Thanks for your replies. I have already checked the data.

What I found was that somehow a copy of the class library my form class was in got into a directory that is used for common libraries. My take on it is that at some point VFP was looking at the correct one and getting class names and locations and then at another point was trying to find a new class or two in the old classlib. I don't know. I do know I am much happier now that I have removed the old lib!
