That doesn't mean we should break the standard. What most people forget is that Microsoft is not a big shark. It's a bunch of piranhas. One team doesn't always follow what another does, but that doesn't mean the team not following the standards is right. It means they haven't paid attention to details.
If you change the text box to SelectOnEntry when you click, it will be harder for the user to position the cursor to edit the text.
