There are ways to add a third party grid to MVC (with enough work and searching). Somehow Microsoft will try to convince developers that that is a good thing rather than having built-in controls that provide the capability.
Personally, as I watch Microsoft take giant strides backwards in developer productivity my main hope is that some other company decides to build a development suite that is worthwhile jumping to.
