You are the listener's eyes so you have to describe the action and also fill in the spaces between pitches, during pitching changes, etc. (And you can't just holler like the football announcers <g>). The best ones tend to be very good storytellers and have amiable styles which wear well. Listening to guys like Vin Scully or Ernie Harwell is like spending time with a great friend
