>But seriously, with all the squawking about no Flash support I'm not surprised that they did this.

>And yes, you may gloat - Lincecum went further than Halladay this season (though Halladay will likely win the Cy Young). Don't know if you know this, but Lincecum changed his off-day workout and conditioning routine back in August (recall that I said many times that he'd break down in the late season). Clearly he made adjustments, the sign of a professional. I've never doubted his capabilities, but I have questioned his heart in the past - he showed me something. Now if he'd only get a haircut....

I was guessing the hair would bother you ;-) It was definitely getting pretty long at the end.

Yes, he pitched great from the first of September on. And under pressure every time out.

What I did not realize until reading it online yesterday morning is he just started throwing the slider around the end of August. That pitch is as devastating as his change-up. He threw 41 sliders in the clincher Monday night, frequently making the Rangers look foolish. I think it was Tim McCarver who said batters will swing at about anything from him early in the count because they don't want to have to deal with the change-up or slider with two strikes.

Halladay definitely had the better season overall, although I am sure he would gladly swap places with Lincecum to have been on a World Series winner. We never disagreed about that -- Halladay had the better season. I will be stunned if he doesn't win the Cy Young award.

On the way to work yesterday morning I was listening to ESPN sports talk for a while and Jayson Stark had an interesting trivia question. He said Lincecum has had 16 or more wins and 200 or more strikeouts the past three seasons, and that only two other active major league pitchers have done that at any time in their careers. Who are they? You probably know. If not, scroll down for the answer....
