You're looking at this all wrong, Kevin. Mitch McConnell is the best friend the Democratic Party has. You'll see.

John Boehner is also showing encouraging signs of becoming another good friend of the Democrats. A bland Congressman from rural Ohio for all these years, he is now one of the most powerful men in Washington. What's impressive is that he repositioned himself as an outside-the-Beltway reformer this year despite saying the exact same things he was saying 10 or 20 years ago. Jon Stewart did a classic piece with an old Boehner speech juxtaposed with a new one. Other than his hair color you couldn't tell the difference. Now he wants to act like a Tea Party guy who is ready to rip it all up and start over. And people believe him! What is encouraging me especially is that McConnell's pomposity must be contagious, because Boehner is addressing comments to Obama that no one would say to a servant. Just give them time.
