You might consider using SCCTEXT.PRG to build a text file instead of saving the projects themselves. I got this idea from Ted Roach in his definitive book on VFP / SourceSafe -- still available from Hentzenwerke. Ted shows how this little program does its "stuff".

By de-compiliing VFP's table based program tools you do have to run the output as a program, but it also allows you the lowest possible level form maintaining those table based tools.
