>>Nicholas, hitting a ball that's coming at 90-95 MPH (when it's thrown from 60 feet and 6 inches away) is a very tough task.

>>I played many of the major sports (including ice hockey) in my teens and 20's, and can tell you that hitting a baseball at the pro (or even semi-pro) level is extremely difficult, one of the most difficult tasks in all of sports.

Did you ever try cricket? ;-) Overarm bowling can be very quick or very slow with significant spin and other effects, not least the added unpredictability from bounces en route to alter direction or speed... and if their aim is true and you miss, it's not just a strike. ;-)
"... They ne'er cared for us
yet: suffer us to famish, and their store-houses
crammed with grain; make edicts for usury, to
support usurers; repeal daily any wholesome act
established against the rich, and provide more
piercing statutes daily, to chain up and restrain
the poor. If the wars eat us not up, they will; and
there's all the love they bear us.
"
