>>Easy for you to say - you can get in a car, train or bus and go somewhere...I don't have that option.

>>I am amazed at how bloody ridiculous some people can be. I've been patted down before - it's quick and clinical. The guy on the news who complained about someone "touching his junk" is an ass-clown. Nobody ever died from embarrassment

>I am amazed at how bloody quickly some people hand over their individual rights to powerful institutions. I wouldn't die from embarrassment but why should a trip begin by being groped at the airport checkpoint? Travel used to be an adventure. Now it's an ordeal, at least the parts in airports.

>The whole charade doesn't accomplish anything other than a false sense of security anyway. If I really wanted to take down a plane I could probably think of 10 ways to do it. How are latex gloved hands going where Grandma hasn't felt hands in years going to make us safer?

But isn't this better that hurting the feelings of people who fit the profile of Muslim terrorists? Isn't it better to be diverse and inclusive and blind to the prejudice that says young Muslim male terrorists are mostly young Muslim males?

I know you hate Ann Coulter and consider her the source of all evil that is not Dick Cheney <s> but you really must read her most recent column. You might really enjoy reading someone who wirtes as well (and bitchily) as she does when they actually agree with you <g>

Though a good deal is too strange to be believed, nothing is too strange to have happened.
- Thomas Hardy

Half the harm that is done in this world is due to people who want to feel important. They don't mean to do harm-- but the harm does not interest them. Or they do not see it, or they justify it because they are absorbed in the endless struggle to think well of themselves.

-- T. S. Eliot
Democracy is two wolves and a sheep voting on what to have for lunch.
Liberty is a well-armed sheep contesting the vote.
- Ben Franklin

Pardon him, Theodotus. He is a barbarian, and thinks that the customs of his tribe and island are the laws of nature.
