Why not - many properties of cursoradapters are holding long strings already. The limitation may be on the other end, when one of those strings is too long to be sent to SQL server - it may depend on your ODBC driver what length of a command will it allow. I know I ran into a case with a 200-field table, where I had to abbreviate the alias to just 2 characters or else it wouldn't go.
