Yes, it is normal the validation returned a message about the format because the date format is in a dd/mm/yyyy format. In your case, you have defined it for mm/dd/yyyy. So, it has to be entered using that format. I did not implement a way to offset the date format assuming all kind of variations someone may enter it into.

As for the search after the validation message, I was not able to simulate that. Do you remember if that was under IE or another browser?
