Yes I have, but it depends. Some statements are only falsifiable in theory, while others are falsifiable in practice or test. Can an assertion be proven false by a specific observation or physical experiment?

Sure. Take, for instance, the claim on the relationship between CO2 and temperature increases. The global warming activists tried to prove a causal relationship - and that has been largely ripped to shreds (and discussed up here by several).

In this instance, there is quantifiable information (along with fraud, but that's a different story) to begin with, but (I dare say) manipulated for political purposes.

Another is the pseudo-science that Ralph Nader and his minions tried to push in the late 1970's and early 1980's regarding nuclear power. Their claims were discredited by all the data provided by engineers and physicists who have demonstrated that no commercial power generation technology can even come close to the safety record of nuclear power.

In both situations, there was the possibility of a "reality check" - that is not possible with religion.

But because of social stigmas surrounding the topic, few would every dare say that institutions that manipulate with religion are engaging in something just as bad as what the IPCC did. (I'll certainly say it).
