Gotta love those Chargers. They played a great game last night. Of course, when you have the #1 offiense and the #1 defense, what do you expect? They're playing well. Their game against KC in a few weeks will likely be for the division title. Given that the wild cards will probably come out of the AFC East and AFC North, loser of the KC/SD game will likely miss the playoffs.
Point of clarity, on offense, SD is 2nd in passing and 15th in rushing. On defense, they're 2nd against the pass and 3rd against the run.
KC has the #1 ranked rushing attack, and is #7 against the run. KC is 25th in passing yards (though Matt Cassel has good numbers right now), because they don't need to throw the ball as often. KC's soft underbelly is the defensive secondary....24th against the pass, due to a young secondary which Rivers will try to exploit. It will be a great game. KC is in a catch-22....if they blitz Rivers often (really the only way to beat him), they expose a fairly weak secondary. If KC doesn't blitz, it gives Rivers the ability to run the kind of play-action and bootleg draws that historically kill KC.
