I had a database in my SQL Server 2005, let's call it ABC. I renamed this database in the SSMS to ABCTest. Then I wanted to create a new database names ABC but SSMS tells me that the name already exist. And yes, when I check the DATA folder the database names ABC_log.ldf and ABC.mdf exist. Do I understand that no matter what name you give the database in the SSMS the actual name remains the same as it was assigned when the database was created?
