>Wow. I live in the south and I've never heard anyone say that to anyone else....
>
>(when I lived up north I had a local church group - no idea which one - knock on my door and start to preach and ask me if I knew I would go to hell if I wasn't saved :o) I shut the door. :o)

>Recently, some whack job told us that we'd burn in hell for not raising our daughter as a Christian. It was an email my wife received. I personally confronted the woman (it was a woman, not that it matters) and told her to keep her nose out of our affairs. As angry as I was, I thought I toned it down, but apparently I scared her so badly she cried afterwards. Wasn't proud of it but also wasn't ashamed....but I'm sure she'll think twice the 2nd time.

>Also recently (despite the "no soliciting" sign on our front door), one of those door-to-door Bible thumpers came by. When I asked why he didn't heed the sign, he informed me he was "selling Christ and not commerce" (actual words). When I said, "well, sorry, not interested either way", he told me I'd regret my lack of interest later when I'm feeling the fires of hell. I replied along the lines that I didn't come knocking at his door to tell him he'd regret being an imbecile. I could tell from his facial expression that he didn't see that one coming.

>Pennsylvania is a rather peculiar state. A rather high concentration of religious nuts. When my wife was a teen, her best friend's grandmother told my wife she was immoral for being Jewish and might die a young death and burn in hell.

>It's not that someone telling me I'll burn in hell scares me...it doesn't. It's more a matter of the sheer delight that these mental pissants seem to take in telling people of their supposed fate.

A couple of things - the word hell has its root in hebrew or arimaic. The pronounciation of original word is 'Shee-ole'. The meaning of the root word is 'away from god' and has nothing to do with burning. Use that on them next time they come to the door and mention burning in hell. Secondly you can always say: "I have found the truth and the truth hath set me free". Then shut the door. Religion using scare tactics is disgusting. Anyway, as soon as the aliens arrive they'll all be looking for work. ;-)
I ain't skeert of nuttin eh?
