>>Charles, I feel badly about our dustup yesterday. We have been friends, albeit from a distance, for a long time and I don't remember anything like that happening before. You are not one of the UT members who seems to live for confrontation and discord. You don't get into silly yelling matches. You share your knowledge openly and get off way more than your share of great lines. I hope we can put this behind us as a one time unfortunate event. We genuinely disagreed on the topic of conversation but I certainly could have expressed myself more tactfully. Even tough guys have feelings ;-)

>I really wasn't offended or irritated the way you seem to think I was. Perhaps I expressed it badly. I have a pretty thick skin. I have no problem defending my ideas when challenged and you would certainly not be the first to find things I say pompous, arrogant, bone-headed or otherwise off base <s> I really don't take arguments about ideas in any way personally.

>My life before geekdom sometimes involved confrontation that could have a very very bad outcome and while I found it exhilarating at the time I rather enjoy and find relaxing the idea that any arguments I find myself in these days don't involve sticks and stones <g>

>So don't worry about it. <s>

If any adversaries from your shadowy past get hold of you and want retribution, they won't need to torture you with burning cigarettes, rip out your fingernails, or any of that. All they have to do is question your intellect.

I apologized abjectly. What did I get back? More pomposity. I am no longer feeling apologetic. Hopefully we will patch this up but I no longer worry about it.
