What is easiest of these to do?

a) cancel Olympic games

b) quit Mafia (and stay alive)

c) quit membership in a homeowners' association (but keep the property)

When our daughter was buying a house, her requirements specifically excluded any kind of owners' association. The same when we were buying. This kind of bureaucracy is getting out of hand, and it's seemingly voluntary (and then all its work passed to a corporation in some cases). The rules that they invent are equally insane as those imposed by insurance :).

Now compare that lifestyle with those of a typical village here, where it's an unspoken duty of pretty much everyone to have a bench in front of their house or store, so people (including themselves) can loiter there: observe benches of Novo Miloševo.
