>They're certainly one of the top teams. At the moment, the Canucks, Flyers, and Red Wings all have 53 points. Vancouver really whipped the Flyers the other night.

>Luongo as a goalie is good...sometimes very good, but not great. They have a balanced attack, but always seem to get man-handled in the second or third round by Chicago or (going back further) Anaheim.

There was a cool promo on espn.com the other day leading in to the Penguins-Caps New Year's Day outdoor game. Sidney Crosby and Alex Ovechkin were featured. They complimented each other. At the end they were both asked what they would choose from among three choices. If you could have the strength of a hundred men, the ability to fly, or the ability to be invisible, which would you choose? Crosby said the strength of a hundred men. Ovechkin said to be invisible. Interesting answers.

I like Ovechkin. He is not the typical Russian hockey player or top goal scorer. Almost all of them have been speedy guys whose personalities tend toward bland. Not Ovechkin. He is a beast, reveling in contact. He doesn't need an enforcer, he's his own enforcer. So what got me in the ESPN interview was how articulate and soft spoken he is. And in a second language.
