Tracy,

Agree re the WP7 name. For many kids the Windows brand resembles Oldsmobile in its final days- meaning it's something that might interest grandpa. ;-) Whereas the Android offerings have cool names to reflect their funky hardware- e.g. check out the new Samsung Nightwing... apparently kids know who Nightwing is, which tells you who it's aimed at. ;-)

IMHO focus increasingly will be on hardware, with OS as an increasingly standardized commodity. IMHO Google has won that one- unless one of the proprietary vendors can come up with something truly exceptional.
"... They ne'er cared for us
yet: suffer us to famish, and their store-houses
crammed with grain; make edicts for usury, to
support usurers; repeal daily any wholesome act
established against the rich, and provide more
piercing statutes daily, to chain up and restrain
the poor. If the wars eat us not up, they will; and
there's all the love they bear us.
"
