When he went for his snow spade, I went inside for a cup of hot tee, thinking "thank you, there really is a God".

I love the sound of sweeping or shovelling (leaves or snow) much nicer than the two stroke din of a leaf or snow blower.
You get the same thing with firewood. If you cut it by hand you get warm twice. Once when you cut it and once when you burn it.
