I tried a couple years ago, and people suggested some things to try (like using relativerow, etc), but I never got it working well. Finally, you can see that the same behavior exists in Excel, for example, as well as other "grid" types of applications. I've never ever heard a user even mention about it.

All that said, if someone has an easy fix, let me know too :)
