I am doing some complex MS Word document creation with VFP and have run into a situation with very sight differences in Word versions, as small as a slight build number difference in the same service pack.

The short story is that we have an internal network that isn't connected to the internet and as new machines are brought into service over time machines get out of synch with MS Office updates. Same version of Office, same SP but different build numbers. This hasn't been a problem until today when I found a document that is generated on my machine is a little different when generated on a users machine. That little difference is a big deal.

I've been told that we can't simply download the latest Office update and put everyone in synch, we have to be connected to the internet and get the updates that way. Can this be true?

The issue isn't so much having the absolutely latest updates as being in synch so my development machine works the same way as the users machine.

Anyone else dealing (hopefully successfully!) with this problem?
