My ex-wife's mom, who is fading to dementia now, was one of eight daughters. That's not the funny part. The funny part is they lived on a farm near Springfield. Grandpa Armstrong must have thought he could have used a couple of farmhands, just statistically. Eight daughters, no sons.

People complain about mothers in law, sometimes with good reason. Never me. Pat was the best mother in law anyone could want. She said I was her favorite son in law. Of course, I suppose she said that about the others as well ;-) It's sad to see what has happened to her. The good part is she doesn't remember it from one day to the next. Emily told he that at Thanksgiving she didn't recognize her granddaughter Renee. And said she didn't have any grandsons with two of them in the room.

I suppose that's better than going lucidly and recognizing exactly what is happening.
