Matthews was a first round draft pick but I doubt many thought he would be this good this soon. Troy Aikman said during the telecast that he thinks Matthews should be the defensive player of the year.

I really like Aikman. Having complained about other announcers over the weekend, it's only fair to say Aikman and Joe Buck are a pleasure every time. Obviously he understands the game and adds insights that you might not have noticed, which is exactly the mission of a color man. The other thing I like is that he will make criticisms without making it personal, John Madden and Cris Collinsworth have that same ability. He'll say something like the safety was way too far off in his position, and he'll be right. But there is never anything malicious about it.
