>I love the portable nature of this tablet. I like how there's no keyboard to get in the way and simply tapping or using gestures (Windows Flicks) on the standard Windows7 GUI works nicely for me. I tend to use the latter more than the EXOGUI since it isn't really ready for prime time IMO. I am able to lie in bed and surf ANY web site using ANY browser that I care to install. Currently I'm using FF beta and am happy with its performance. I tried Skype the other day and had a video call. It was a flawless experience sitting on the sofa and doing this all via WiFi. I took it to my parents last weekend and connected it to their TV via the HDMI port and played them a slideshow of photos taken over the Christmas holidays. Again, flawless; not a single hiccup doing this via XBMC (a cool media center substitute). And it was simply a matter of taking the SD card out of my camera and plugging it into the EXOPC.

>The other major plus is the fact that I can run my VFP apps on this thing! I'll admit it isn't a desktop substitute, but, in a pinch I can fire up VFP and start coding if I had to. Of course I'm implying that I'd need to connect an external keyboard and/or mouse (via bluetooth or USB) because doing development work with the virtual keyboard and touch would be a royal pain. Having said that though, it is possible :) If I really wanted to, I could do the same with the handwriting recognition feature of the Windows keyboard. I was really impressed with how accurate and easy it is to scribble text on this thing and have it translated. It works so well that I tend to input text using the handwriting mode with the stylus that came with the unit. It's actually faster than using the virtual keyboard because the handwriting software can auto correct spelling mistakes and anticipate words.

>I could go on about the good stuff, but, I'll be honest and say something about the not so good stuff. First and foremost, the touch screen started giving me some troubles by not being responsive. After the initial two weeks, when I'd tap to click or drag, nothing would happen for about 10 - 30 seconds. I don't need to tell you that's not a good thing for a touch experience. Others have complained about phantom clicks but I've not encountered any of those. Apparently they'd be holding the slate in such a way that a click is registered in the top right corner and you know what happens if your window is maxed and it has the "X" button in that corner :) When the unresponsiveness happened to me, I'd run a calibration process that "fixed" the issue. It turned out that it was only a temporary fix, because eventually it returned. There is now a new calibration process put out within the last 2 days that is supposedly a permanent fix. Thus far, it seem to address the issues and I'm back to tablet bliss, but, I won't know if it is permanent for a few more weeks.

>Overall, I'm pleased with the device. EXOPC needs to get their UI completed and put out some serious application. Other hardware vendors are planning on using the EXO GUI over Windows7. Currently they only have flash games available to download for free off of the online store. That's great if you're into flash games, but I'm waiting for the "killer apps" that was promised to be coming.

>BTW, Microsoft has begun to sell the EXOPC too.

Hi Mike!

I couldn't have said it better :)

I haven't used my EXO much. But from what I've seen overall I'm satisfied. The patch related to touch screen issue seems to make a big difference. I tested some things before and after the patch and it feels faster to do those things afterwards. The only thing that I really miss now is a real pdf reader app made for touchscreens. Right now I'm using Nuance which is not that bad... but it's not what I really need.
