I'm seeing things here. I just tried it your way and it worked. Tried it again my way and it also worked....but I'll swear up and down that when I was trying to help Derek with his split grid problem yesterday I was getting that error....weird, huh? And I knew about the Split property you mentioned....tried everything yesterday. Oh well...live and learn.
