Is this on battery or AC power?
Have you checked Windows power settings?
Does it shutdown only during inactivity?
Is it a result of docking/undocking from a docking station?
FYI, HPs are some of the worst for warranty repair. You might want to consider something different next time.
http://www.squaretrade.com/htm/pdf/SquareTrade_laptop_reliability_1109.pdf>My laptop shuts itself off after inactivity. I've seen the other postings about overheating but that is not the case here. The laptop goes into sleep mode, or hibernate, but can't be brought balk out; it then eventually shits down suddenly. When I re-boot, I get a Windows message stating that the system was shut down improperly.
