I fully agree with Mike and me too I have equal experience.
Just a few days ago I replied in my enthousiasm to a message to find out the same answer was already given by an other person before, which I am sure was not visible in the conversation at the time I replied. Apart from making me a fool replying to an already replied question it could have saved me a lot of time preparing a redundant reply.
A system where, by default, all messages from a track are visible by would have my preference also. Now to be sure you did not miss anything 'in between' one is obliged to click the 'view the map of this thread' button first.
