I have to admit that updating the BIOS always makes me extremely nervous.

>Anytime you do a BIOS update you should also check for various driver updates from the manufacturer e.g. motherboard chipset drivers, IDE drivers etc. It's possible this is what Windows was doing automatically when you got the unexpected message about Windows (re-)configuring itself.
>
>Windows will only pull drivers from the MS site, which may not be completely up-to-date or exactly correct for updates made to a given maker's or OEM's BIOS. Better to check the maker's site.
>
>Before reverting to an earlier BIOS version, carefully and completely read the release notes for all versions in between, so you know which fixes you would be forgoing. BIOS updates are almost always well-tested and a good thing, and can fix issues ranging from minor & rare to significant & common.

>>I am beginning to think that the problem started right after I did the latest BIOS update, which was November 7th. That is when I stopped using my laptop because it would eventually hibernate and then turn itself off. I am going to execute the older BIOS update for 2009 and see if that stops the issue.

>>>Does it shutdown only during inactivity?
>>>Is it a result of docking/undocking from a docking station?
