In thought this service was entirely appropriate. What I saw was people celebrating heroes and celebrating hope. Remembering the victims doesn't have to be somber.

I watched the ending of the service a 2nd time (I had DVRd it). Here's one of the things that really pissed me off. When Obama took the podium to give his speech, he got a standing ovation. Well, normally you don't have standing ovations in a memorial, but it was the president and this was a very unusal event, so OK.

But when the applause died down and he said, "Please, be seated", people kept applauding and you could hear plenty of howls and screams and other noises that you'd normally hear if Pearl Jam came to play at the local high school.

This is about as hypothetical as it gets, but had I been in Obama's position, I would have seriously considered telling those fu__ing morons to STFU, that this was a memorial service and not a damn pep rally.

Like I said, I've been full of rage this entire week over this entire incident. I hope they impale Jared Lee Loughner.
