I looked on your blog and this syntax worked.

textBoxVersion.DataBindings.Add("Text", soinf.somastds, "soversion.version");

I originally had the binding set at load time, but ran into issues when adding blank rows if the binding did formatting as some of them do, so I had to clear them and reset them after the row was added.

This solved my problem.
