>Well, why can't you store the rules in a table in the database, but call the validation functions from the DBC rules as opposed to the Valid of the text box?

Oh I dont want to call my business rule from my textbox, that's not a clean tiered approach in my opinion. But I would like to store my rules in a table managed by a validation object. So if I take this approach, can I still code some sort of call from field rule to protect my data integrity inside that dbc from a rambunctious user that tries tap my tables from Excel or Access?

IOW, Will the field rule fire off before my validation object (like Blankenship's Data validation engine class, Aug. FPA page 59) would do it's job?
