Our pediatrician said that while Katy has been a little behind on most of the major physical milestones (crawling, walking), she's ahead on a number of areas.

>Right now, Katy is 20 months, can count to 10 (and sometimes higher....and when we start counting with a number other than 1, she knows the next number)....is getting good with the alphabet, can build things with blocks, and knows to hand the remote to daddy when she accidently switches from Sesame Street to something else.

>And finally, the other day when Obama was on TV, Katy walked towards the TV and said, 'NO, NO, NO, NO'. Damn smart kid....what do I need Baby Einstein for??? :)

>But you know what...I'm just damn glad we have a healthy happy little girl.

I'm happy for you guys that you have a healthy girl. That is the most important thing to be.

The thing about baby Einstein for my sister is that she knew that when she needed a break her daughter would really enjoy those DVDs. For example during dinner. She bought those dvds before Disney bought the company that made those. So perhaps now that it's in Disney's hands it's more gimmickey.

Baby Einstein is not going to make a child brighter. It's just a marketing thing. The name makes that enterprise look cool. That's it.

In fact I doubt that Baby Einstein has anything to do with the evolution of a child. My nieces are both very bright. One liked Baby Einstein and the other didn't.

My older niece is going to a school for children that are ahead of the others. So she learns the official stuff and when they're finished with that they learn to play music. This year flute. Next year Piano.

I'm sure Baby Einstein had nothing to do with that.

I guess that it's an environment thing. With the right environment the child will evolve and become a good adult. In the wrong environment a child will become an adult that could vote for Palin for example :-D
