Correct.
My first assembler course was on IBM 8088 Assembler Language Programming (I still have the book of that title). Technically, I think the language was called "assembly" and the software that build .obj files was the "assembler". But alas, I turn 46 in less than 2 weeks and haven't written a drop of assembly code since 1995, and therefore don't care any longer. :)
I think I had that book as well. Jeff Duntemann (of Turbo Technix fame) wrote a great book on assembly in 1992. I wish he'd written it about 4 years prior. He was a great author.
I still get a room full of laughs when I joke that Microsoft almost released a Visual Assembler product (where you drag and drop register values) :)
