I have never had any problems with numeric columns that I can recall. But you may have to change the SET POINT and/or SET SEPARATOR values before and after the Append. And I usually use Append instead of Import since then I can control the structure instead letting VFP guess.

If that doesn't fix your problem, can you elaborate?
