It's not a police state. You can bet there will be repercussions now that the story has hit the news. Heck, a former police chief was just convicted last week of abusing suspects (all black, I believe) while in the CPD and sentenced to 54 months in jail. I'm sure he will appeal but he's not going to get out of it after all the evidence that was presented at trial.
