>I haven't actually tried it but my understanding is Parallels is a virtual machine manager (VMM) for OS X. It creates a VM, and on that VM you install an actual licensed version of Windows (XP or later). You then install and run your VFP app on the Windows VM. Because it's running on a real Windows OS, it should work fine. You may need to pay special attention to printing, USB and sound, support for which varies across different VMMs. You may also need to pay attention to networking setup.

http://www.apple.com/macmini/ but at US$999 it ain't cheap. I imagine that would work fine as an SMB/CIFS file server.

Thanks Al,
my client apparently has a Mac Mini already so the expense shouldn't be an issue. I've told them they can try it but warned them that I have zero experience on Macs and so will not be able to help on any technical issues and that my gut feeling is to not use any Macs at all. However it sounds like they are still considering it so I'm looking for anyone who has actually done this.
