One of the most intriguing articles I have read in The New Yorker recently was by an egghead, James Wood, in surprising tribute to Keith Moon. "Won't Get Fooled Again" is cited as one of Moon's seismic moments. Evidently you can go to YouTube and hear just the drum part. He invented a new rock role: lead drums. He did not invent rockers with a death wish but he may have perfected it. Hope I die before I get old, indeed.

(Short, bang on the nose names, which was the right idea). I have been lucky enough to see all of them except the Beatles. I know history sees it differently but personally it's a dead heat between the Who and the Clash. They weren't in business. They meant it.
