>>>Hi,
>>>
>>>I am trying to convert an Excel file to .DBF. I open the .XLS file in Excel (2003) and then save it as DBF 3 format. But when I then try to open the DBF file I get message of "duplicate fields". I thought that on the Save Excel will name each column in DBF as the name of the column in excel (e.g. A, B, C ). If that is the case, how do I have duplicate columns? Any suggestions of what I might be missing? TIA.
>>
>>Is it possible that the first row contains the field names?
>>
>>BTW, I posted recently a program we're using to automate this process based on Excell Automation.

>It is possible that the field names are made from the first row. But even though the spreadsheet has only 6-7 columns and I can see that none of the entries in the first row are the same.

>Where did you post his program to automate the process of getting data from Excel? If it was in the public place, of course.

Re: How to save the Excel file as DBF format Thread #1497313 Message #1497338 and check my reply later for one function used in this program (the other one is not important).
If it's not broken, fix it until it is.
